The short version. FreshOwl has no accounts. Your items are stored on your iPhone. Photos you scan are read on the device and never uploaded. Three services receive limited data — the product database you look barcodes up in, the payment processor if you subscribe, and anonymous usage analytics. Nothing is sold to anyone.

Everything you enter — your items, their dates, locations, and the record of what you marked as used or thrown away — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device database. It is not uploaded to us, and we cannot see it.
If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.
FreshOwl asks for camera access so it can read barcodes and printed dates. Images are processed on your device and are not uploaded, stored, or transmitted. The app extracts the date and the barcode number, and the image itself is discarded.

Reminders are scheduled and delivered locally by your iPhone. They are not sent from a server and their content does not leave your device.
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Because FreshOwl holds no account and stores your data on your own device, the practical route for most of these is the app itself: your data is in your hands, and deleting the app erases it.

FreshOwl is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app.
