The short version. FreshOwl is sold through Apple’s App Store, so Apple’s standard licence terms apply to your use of it. Subscriptions renew until you cancel, and you cancel them in your iPhone’s own Settings, not here.
FreshOwl is licensed, not sold, to you. Unless a separate agreement is presented to you, your use of the app is governed by Apple’s Standard End User Licence Agreement.
FreshOwl reads product information from barcodes and dates printed on packaging, stores them on your device, and reminds you before those dates arrive. Where no date can be read, it estimates one from typical shelf-life data and marks it clearly as an estimate.
FreshOwl does not assess food and makes no recommendation about eating anything. It tracks dates. Every decision about what to eat, keep or discard is yours, and estimates cannot account for storage conditions, opened packaging, or anything that happened before an item reached you.
Everything you have already added stays in the app and remains readable. Lapsing restores the free-tier limits on adding new items and on locations and history — it never removes or hides data you created.
All purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple rather than by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Please don’t attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app, or use it in a way that breaks applicable law.
FreshOwl is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from its use. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury, or intent and gross negligence.
These terms may change as the app develops. The date at the top will change with them.
German law applies, insofar as this does not deprive you of protections you are entitled to as a consumer in your country of residence.
